The Bossier Sheriff’s Department and State Livestock Brand Inspectors are trying to identify ownership of a bull impounded after found “running at large” off U.S. Highway 71 and Oil Field Road, at Elm Grove, La., in south Bossier Parish.
The branded bull is currently stored with a local livestock contractor. If no owner is located, the bull will be held the required 10 days and sold the next regular sale barn day. Anyone with information or questions may call the Bossier Sheriff’s Department at 318-965-2203. All costs of impoundment, care and damages will be the responsibility of the owner of the bull or held out after the sale.
Anyone who misses their livestock is encouraged to immediately report such a loss to the Bossier Sheriff’s Department or the law enforcement agency of jurisdiction so the Brand Inspectors will be notified to prevent their theft and return the livestock to the owners without the costs of impoundment and care.
The sheriff would also ask that livestock owners mark or brand their livestock so the animals can be identified and returned to ownership, as well as to prevent thefts of livestock. Brand applications are available at sheriff’s office facilities around the parish.
