The Bossier Sheriff’s Office will conduct Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) graduation ceremonies next week, beginning Monday.

There will be six ceremonies altogether, including: May 10th—Waller Elementary at 1:00 p.m., May 11th—Princeton Elementary at 9:00 a.m. and Benton Elementary at 1:00 p.m., May 12th—Carrie Martin Elementary at 9:30 a.m., May 13th—Stockwell Elementary at 1:00 p.m. and May 14th—Legacy Elementary at 9:30 a.m.

The D.A.R.E. program was instituted by Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen in Bossier Parish schools in 1989. The D.A.R.E. curriculum is taught over a period of 16 weeks by Bossier Sheriff’s deputies and is designed to help young people build self esteem, teach them how to deal effectively with unwanted peer pressure and encourage them to find healthy and productive alternatives to violence, gangs and alcohol.
