Shreveporters Arrested on Drug Charges

5/11/2010

Two Shreveport men were arrested early Sunday morning on drug charges, said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.

Walker Ellis Floyd, Jr., 29, of the 3800 block of Miles Street, and Corey Shaumichael Luckey, 34, of the 1900 block of State Street, were taken into custody after the vehicle Floyd was driving was stopped on Interstate 20 at the 21-mile marker for crossing the center line. A traffic stop was initiated at the exit ramp to Old Minden Road with emergency overhead lights.

Bossier Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Floyd who told them his Louisiana driver’s license was suspended, and he had no insurance on his vehicle. Floyd was asked if he had anything illegal in his vehicle, like narcotics or weapons. Floyd said, “No,” and gave the deputies permission to search the vehicle.

During the search, deputies found marijuana behind the radio, stuffed in the dash vents and on the driver/passenger seats. Deputies also recovered cigars used for smoking marijuana.

Floyd and Luckey were transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked. Floyd was charged with marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, improper lane usage and no insurance. Luckey was charged with second-offense marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Floyd’s bond was set at $1,700, while Luckey’s was set at $5,500.
