Body Found in Red Chute Identified

5/11/2010

A body found in Red Chute Bayou near Louisiana Downs yesterday has been positively identified as Nancy Sue Miller, 39, of East Highland Mobile Home Park in Haughton, said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.

Nancy had been missing since March 3, but was identified this afternoon by the Bossier Parish Coroner using dental records. Her body was found floating near the bank of the bayou by two fishermen at approximately 2:30 p.m. yesterday. The men flagged down some passersby, saying someone had drown.

Nancy was last seen on March 3 at home by her father. Bossier Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation that revealed Nancy may have walked into a local store and then down U.S. Hwy. 80 on Thurs., March 4. At that time, a witness stated that they saw someone fitting Nancy’s description walk into Reflections on Hwy. 80, across from East Highland Mobile Home Park. The female opened the door, walked into the doorway, looking confused. She then turned around and walked out and across Hwy. 80 toward the westbound lane. The witness further stated that she was wearing a blue housecoat or robe with jogging pants and no shoes.

Canine trackers confirmed the story of the witness two months ago. The canine was able to track Nancy’s scent from her home to the Reflections doorway, back out onto Hwy. 80. There were unconfirmed reports that Miller may have gotten into a car with someone along the highway.

Nancy’s parents were notified this afternoon about the identification of their daughter.

“We are deeply saddened by Nancy’s death, but we pray and trust this will give some sort of closure to Nancy’s parents,” said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.
