Coushatta Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

6/10/2010

A Coushatta man was arrested Wednesday morning for possession of marijuana, driving under suspension, speeding and for not wearing a seat belt, said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.

Gabriel Lee Kerby, 24, of the 400 block of Highway 371, was taken into custody after he was clocked traveling 67 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone on Highway 71 at Louisiana 527. A Bossier Sheriff’s deputy saw that Kerby was not wearing a seat belt as he passed and a check of his Louisiana driver’s license showed that it was suspended.

During a search of Kerby’s vehicle, deputies recovered loose marijuana near the driver’s seat on the floorboard. A sample of the drug tested positive for marijuana with the help of a field test kit.

Kerby was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked. His bond is pending.
