Man, Woman Arrested for Meth Possession

7/22/2010

A Shreveport man and a Bossier City woman were arrested early Wednesday morning for possession of methamphetamine, said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.

Kenneth James Baker, 49, of the 5200 block of Bienville, and Summer Diane Carhee, 28, of the 3300 block of East Texas Street, were taken into custody after Baker was observed traveling west on I-20 around the 20-mile marker with no license plate light. A traffic stop was initiated with emergency overhead lights, and Bossier Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Baker, who appeared very nervous.

In plain view inside the vehicle on the passenger seat was a bag of meth, but Baker and Carhee told deputies they knew nothing about it. The meth tested positive when deputies ran it through a roadside kit.

Baker and Carhee were transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked. Baker is also charged with having no license plate light and no inspection sticker. Carhee faces an additional charge of introducing contraband into a prison.

Their bonds are pending.
