Shreveport Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

7/27/2010

A Shreveport man was arrested early Sunday morning for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, no proof of insurance and open container, said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.

Donald Craig Scroggins, Jr., 22, of the 6600 block of Venus Drive, was taken into custody after Bossier Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched on a possible drunk driver call. The caller said the driver was turning north on Bellevue Road, was running over the center and fog lines, and ran the red light at Highway 80 and Stockwell Road.

The deputies made contact with the driver as he was exiting his vehicle in the 300 block of Mid-South Loop in Haughton. A standard field sobriety test was performed, and the driver was not found to be impaired by alcohol. He was, however, driving under suspension, had an open container of beer in his front cup holder and had no proof of insurance. He also had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the front seat of his vehicle.

Scroggins was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility. His bond was set at $1,700.
